HHS Chicken Updates

We had 4 baby chicks born over the break!

They are resting at Mrs. Boswell home.  She has two grandkids that fell in love with them over the break so I have given them the chicks. We have 12 more eggs in the incubator and expect the eggs to hatch on Jan 24th/25th time frame.

HHS vs Village Academy

Today the Hillside High Football team overcame a very strong performance by Village Academy winning in O.T. 44-41.  HHS scored first going up 8-0 but fell behind at halftime 21-14.   VA had the opening possession of the 2nd half and scored making the difference 27-14. HHS then went into high gear scoring the next 19 points and going up 33-27. Then VA tied the score 33-33,  missing a 1 PAT.  HHS scoured again making it 41-33, but HHS failed to hold VA in the last minute where they scored and made a 2 PAT to tie score 41-41, forcing OT. In OT Michael Terry intercepted a pass for the winning score. 44-41. (note in this league an interception is worth 3 points.)

With the win HHS takes at least a share of the IVL title finishing the season at 4 wins to one loss. HHS has been the league champion or shared the championship for the past three season.  Records set this season: Most points scored in a game 64, most points scored in a season  210, and tied for longest winning streak @ 4 wins.

We will continue work both inside and outside the classroom.  This is the final week of classes this year. I would like to wrap up the construction of the new walkway near the new orchard this week. And as we wrap up the outside work I would like to finalize some things inside the classroom as well.
Inside the classroom

I want to make sure each student as two link list sections on their blogger with at least 8 links total.
One image of themselves on their blogger using the image gadget.
One clock/calendar on their blogger using the html gadget.
A photo of themselves on the wall.

Week 5: December 10-14

Work continues on the walkways in the garden. Now that the Grant folks have done their work we have an opportunity to do some rework to areas of the garden that were not completed last school year. The items include the widening of one walkway and the extension of another. We also decided to bring back the work table into the garden. Other items include the addition of two four by four raised planter areas and the construction of a bean trellis.

R.I.P. George

On Thursday December 7th we received over 2" of rain that overwhelmed our chicken coop drain. As a result our disabled chicken Silkie George ( a hen) drowned. She had feet issues. Her feet were turned in and she basically walked on the top of her feet.  While all the other chickens were able to find dry land George did not. She was the most loved chicken in the flock. She did everything to stay up with her brothers and sisters that were different breeds and much larger than her. A funeral has been planned for George on Monday at Lunch.

Week 4 Dec 5th OA and Billboard Assignment

OA Today! Cause it's raining!

Question: If time travel were possible - would you go into the future or past first? And why.
Photo: Photo of the day - Can be random but must have meaning to you. You don't need to put an explanation.

Todays assignment: Billboard

1. Open Billboard Image - Get image from Google Classroom 0- This should have been done earlier this week when you downloaded the palm tree image.

2. Open a new image - You can use an image that you previously modified or select a new image.
So you now have two images opened - The billboard and your image. Look for an image that is wider than tall.

3. Scale your image - Using the pulldown menu "Image" select Scale. Scale image to a size about 200 pixels tall x 300 pixels wide.

4. Copy the scaled image and past onto the billboard image. The goal is to place the image inside the billboard.

5. Using the TOOLBOX- perspective  - A dialogue box will appear. You will need to manipulate all 4 corners of the image to make it fit into the billboard. Select Transform to view. If it does not fit correctly work on the corners that are not fitting and select Transform again. Repeat until you are happy with the final product.

6. When done export your image to your desktop. Place all three images on to your blogger. The empty billboard, your photo and the combination of the two together.

Billboard:

Project Billboard

1. Open the image provide of the billboard in GIMP
2. Find an image of your choice and open it in GIMP
3. Most of the time the student image is signigicantl larger than the billboard image so we need to reduce the image. to reduce image select "image" and "scale image". change the size to be 300 pixels wide by "use chain" to automatically resize the height.
More info to come....See above steps

Some fun Video Editing.....

The Dead South - Image setting up this video shoot. Both depth and width must be taken into account. Having the singers at the same spacing and then there is the little thing of the beat. Something we will have to try this school year.
